Naming institutions

Kashmiris are by nature scholarly people. Kashmir has produced literateurs of merits across all centuries in the past. We have produced philosophers, poets and writers of repute some of who had a worldwide fame. Even before the coming of Islam to valley we had produced literateurs of repute. It is amazing to note that a lot of our educational institutions are known by their official name like Government Higher Secondary School ABC Bagh and the sorts. It would be great if all educational institutions and other institutions related to arts, linguistic etc. are named after our poets, writers, philosophers or seers. It is amazing to note that contemporary poets and writers are given recognition only after their death. While they are alive even their immediate neighbors are unaware of their literary genius. It would be fruitful and prudent to have a few institutions named after our contemporary writers and poets. This would inspire scores of our young students and scholars to continue pursuing literary courses. When one of the sons of the soil in Kaprin Shopian died it was heartening to note that immediately an educational institute was named after him. We impress upon the government that this should happen while our poets and writers are alive. Most of the literary people live a quiet life, not bothered about money and fame. It is , however, the fundamental duty of any establishment to recognize their genius and reward them accordingly. We can start with naming a few institutions after our martyrs, contemporary poets, writers, and scholars. That could go a long way in imbibing the concept of scholarly pursuit in our youth.
