The Road from Naidkadal to Nakshband Sahab in central Kashmir’s Khanyar area of Srinagar district is in dilapidated condition, causing inconvenience to commuters traveling on the stretch.
Pedestrians and commuters claim that the bad condition of roads is causing traffic congestion and that they are facing problems when they venture outside.
“We are not able to ply two-wheelers due to the worst condition of the road. The private car drivers and motorists often face grave problems,” said Muzaffar Ahmad, a local resident.
According to commuters, poor road conditions have caused numerous issues, such as longer travel times, water logging, and traffic bottlenecks.
“We have been visiting to officials and telling them about our problem, but nothing has been done locally as of yet. Daribal road is dotted with large potholes and has not been repaired for the last several years. The concerned authorities are least bothered to macadamize the road,” he said.
Locals said that the dilapidated condition of the road can cause fatal road accidents leading to injuries and even death.
“During the rainy season, water gets accumulated into the potholes causing inconvenience to the pedestrians. Moreover, the vehicles move at snail’s pace in order to avoid the potholes and bumps,” they said.
“The situation with the roads is causing serious challenges for commuters and pedestrians alike. Officials from the concerned departments have been contacted, but nothing has been done so far. Potholes litter the road, and the concerned authorities aren’t doing anything about it, according to Muzaffar, a local.
Meanwhile, the residents request the concerned department to come to their rescue by addressing their problem and providing them better road connectivity in the area at the earliest.
