Kashmir-based entrepreneur and CEO of Clout Scoop and MutaVerse, Mutahir Showkat, has spoken out against the recent release of Engineer Rashid on bail, calling it a clear attempt to influence the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
“We live in a place where emotions play a big role in everything, and sadly, these emotions are often used for political gains,” said Mutahir. He expressed concern over how, just before the elections, different strategies are employed to get votes in Kashmir.
Mutahir believes that the people of Kashmir have often cast their votes based on emotions, rather than focusing on development. He described Engineer Rashid’s release as another attempt to manipulate the people emotionally, ahead of the elections.
He recalled a similar situation during the parliamentary elections, when former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah made significant progress in Baramulla district. Back then, Mutahir says, Engineer Rashid’s imprisonment was used as a “victim card” to gain sympathy and mislead the youth of Kashmir.
“Now, with his release, it’s clear they are trying the same old trick—playing on the emotions of the Kashmiri people, especially the youth, to gain votes,” said Mutahir.
He called on the youth of Kashmir to see through these tactics and focus on the future of the region. “This is the time for change. We need to decide whether we want to keep voting based on emotions or choose a path of development. The youth must wake up and understand what’s really at stake.”
With elections approaching, Mutahir’s words serve as a reminder for voters to think critically and avoid falling for emotional manipulation in the political landscape.
