Along with the traditional businesses in the Kashmir Valley, the youth are now setting a benchmark by venturing into new business models in keeping with the history and heritage of Kashmir.A good example of this is Kaj in the central district of Ganderbal. Located in Pura Kangan is ‘Kulube Cottages’ where a young entrepreneur Sameer Ahmed has built mud houses. These mud houses are a major tourist attraction these days. These houses are made of mud from the outside, but inside they are equipped with all the facilities of a hotel.
While talking about this concept with Milap News Network, Sameer Ahmed said that for a long time he had the idea of doing something that would connect him with his roots. Based on this idea, he built three mud houses. These mid-houses give a sense of old-style living along with the ambience, while the modern facilities in the interior do not create any difficulties for the tourists.
He said that the traditional lifestyle of Kashmiris is simple and unique. In ancient times, houses were made of mud and people were using traditional earthenware for various purposes, but in modern times, many changes have taken place in this way of life. He said that Kulube Cottages is a link to revive this old way of life.
Kulube Cottages feature mud houses as well as a restaurant in which clay pots are used from cooking to eating. According to Sameer Ahmed, their aim is to stay connected with the rich culture and provide the best services to our customers. He said that he is planning to build more such mud houses to accommodate more people.
A tourist on a tour of the Cottages said that by coming here, he got an opportunity to connect with the old way of life of the Kashmir valley. He said that this place is so beautiful and peaceful that it cannot be described in words. He said that the youth in the Kashmir valley are doing unprecedented work to connect with their roots and the UT administration and the central government should give them full support.
Another tourist while talking to Milap News Network said that these mud houses are so beautiful and impressive that he does not want to go back from here. He said that Kashmir is as beautiful as its people and praised the hospitality he experienced in Kashmir.(Milap News Network)
