As other parts of the country prepare to face harsh weather – rains or heat – fresh snowfall in the middle of the month of April has been witnessed in Sonamarg. Widespread rain and snow was also reported in Machil, Gulmarg, and Zojila.
Visuals show fresh Snowfall in the picturesque Sonamarg area of Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, with the white blanket making it look like winter wonderland despite it being peak Summer. A little vegetation can also been midst of the snow.
“Today, rain/thundershowers are expected at most places in Kashmir and many places in Jammu region,” tweeted Kashmir Weather.
Now, fresh snowfall starts in Sonamarg.
Zojila has received 2 inches of snow since morning.

The month of April marks usually the onset of summer in Sonmarg which continues in the month of June. The climate varies between pleasant conditions to moderately hot. According to Kashmir Weather, a significant drop is expected in day temperature (5 – 11°C below normal). But surprisingly snowfall has started in the middle of April in the Valley parts.
