Srinagar: Government on Tuesday released former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti after being detained for over a year – since the eve of the centre scrapping Article 370 – under the stringent Public Safety Act (PSA).
Ms Mufti’s release comes just as the deadline set by the Supreme Court was set to expire.

Official spokesperson to Jammu and Kashmir govt, Rohit Kansal took to twitter and wrote; “Ms. Mehbooba Mufti being released,” tweeted Robot Kansal.

“As Ms Mufti’s illegal detention finally comes to an end, Id like to thank everybody who supported me in these tough times. I owe a debt of gratitude to you all. This is Iltija signing off. فی امان اﷲ May allah protect you,” tweeted Mehbooba’s daughter, Iltija Mufti.

Mufti was detained on August 5, 2019 along with two former chief ministers, Farooq Abdullah and Omar Abdullah.
