An elderly man drowned to death in a nallah in Sopore town of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday, officials said.
The deceased, identified as Bashir Ahmad Bhat, son of Habibullah Bhat from Budan Rafiabad, reportedly went for a bath in the Yarbug Nallah, where he accidentally slipped into Nallah.

However, after hectic efforts, the lifeless body of the man was retrieved from the nallah.
Bhat as per the locals was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
A pall of gloom descended when the news about the tragic death of the elderly man spread in the village.
Meanwhile, police have registered a case under relevant sections in this regard.
