Residents of Narbal area of Central Kashmir’s Budgam district are up in arms against the authorities for failing to provide better road connectivity in the area.
According to locals, the road from GHSS to Aastaan Mohalla which connects the area with the Srinagar-Gulmarg highway is in pathetic condition for the past many years.
Syed Aadil, a local said, “Whenever it is raining for few minutes we are unable to walk on the road as it gets inundated. The road looks like as if it has never been macadamized and we fail to understand why the concerned department is leaving this important stretch without black tapping.”
Aadil said that the condition of this road is getting worse with every passing day.
“Every day we lose time due to the traffic jams, the situation becomes annoying, particularly, during peak hours,” he added.
“Despite passing of years, the concerned authorities have failed to repair the roads. Due to dilapidated roads, we face problems to venture out. Potholes on the roads have damaged our vehicles. While roads in adjoining localities have been macadamized, our area has been left out. This is discrimination against us,” the locals said.
The people of this village have also urged the Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha to direct the concerned department to macadamize the road at the earliest.
