The residents of Lalpora, Mamoosa, Babagund area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday expressed sorrow over the bad condition of road in the area.
“We face too many hardships while traveling. The road has not been macadamized for years and is full of huge chuckholes due to which traveling becomes too difficult,” said Danish Ahmad, a local resident.
Another local resident, Raqib Ahmed said, “During the summer season, dust flies on the unmaintained road causing severe throat infections and during incessant rains, vehicles get trapped in the stagnant water. The commuters have to walk on muck and filth flowing on the road during rains.”
“The bumpy road gives a nightmarish experience to the elders. They often complain of back pain while traveling. Moreover, the vehicles get damaged and we have to always repair them due to the terrible road,” he added
The problem further compounds during rains as the road turns into cesspool. “It seems authorities have forgotten to take up the repair works after the drainage part was done,” they added.
“We have shared our grievance several times but nothing positive happened on the ground,” said the commuter, adding that we are waiting for the day when the work on the roads starts
Commuters blame the concerned authorities for not giving ears to their demands on this issue.
The residents appealed to concerned authorities to intervene in the matter for an early redressal of their grievances.
