Residents of Kehribal, Shilpora, Gopalpora, and Bhunmohalla area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district are up in arms against the non-availability of public transport service from Kehribal to Anantnag.
The residents of the area on Tuesday expressed anguish over authorities for not paying any heed and attention towards this issue for a long time.
The students complained that they have to wait for hours to avail public transport. “Due to lack of public transport, we did not reach school on time.”
“I have to go for a medical check-up, unfortunately, I have been waiting for a sumo for the last three hours here, I could not get a seat as sumo drivers are booking full seats at Kehribal stand as usual daily basis,” said Shabir Ahmad, a local resident.
“The area has a huge population and a large number of commuters can be seen daily waiting for sumo at Kehribal, Gopalpora, Shilpora, and adjacent villages,” he said.
“Only 6-8 sumos are plying on Kheribal-Anantnag route, commuters of middle villages could not get a seat easily and unable to reach their destinations on proper time,” said Khushboo Jan, a college student.
Meanwhile, locals urge concerned authorities to provide a Mini-bus service from Anantnag to Kehribal so the lack of transport woes will be over.
