The residents of Dragmulla village of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district Monday staged a protest against the lack of basic facilities like lack of adequate staff at Primary Health Centre (PHC), electricity and potable water supply.

The villagers said that they had to face immense hardships due to lack of basic facilities in the village.

“Even in the 21st century we don’t have basic facilities and the irony is that we have been deprived of even basic facilities by the successive regimes as no one has even bothered to redress our genuine demands,” said a protester.

According to locals due to lack of adequate staff and basic diagnostic facilities at PHC Drugmulla, the patient care had been badly hit.

“Patients particularly pregnant ladies are badly suffering for want of medical attention during pre and post delivery time. People from far-flung areas are dependent on it,” locals complained.

The residents said that they had several times brought these grievances into the notice of concerned officials but nothing concrete has been done in this regard so far.

The residents also complained about unscheduled power cuts and lack of drinking water facility in their area.

The protesters appealed the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and DC Kupwara to intervene and redress their genuine demands.
