Braving all the challenges, an educated young entrepreneur from Anantnag district of South Kashmir managed to get his Cricket Bat Brand recognised at International level, inspiring others to ensure hardwork in getting their respective brands recognised.
Fawzul Kabir, who is an MBA passout from Islamic University of Science & Technology- Awantipora, hails from Kashmir’s Anantnag district, & has been operating a bat industry, titled as GR8 Sports on Srinagar Jammu National Highway near Sangam area, got his cricket bat brand recognised at International, following which it was used by several International players.
The GR8 Sports Cricket Bat Company was initially established by Fawzul’s father Abdul Kabir Dar in 1974, and since then the company used to supply unbranded bats to known brands, which continued till 2010.
However, with the hardwork and passion of young Fawzal Kabir, the brand day by day started shining, as he left no stone unturned in recognising his GR8 Sports Bat, particularly in English countries, following which the bats of his company were appeared in the T20 World Cups of 2021 & 2022.
The bats from the company were taken by the several players of Oman Cricket Team (in 2021 WC), & United Arab Emirates, UAE (in 2022 WC), which boosts the morale of young entrepreneur.
“Since 2010, we changed our way of sending unbranded items to known brands, and went to cricket playing nations to get our own brand recognised at Int’l level. In this connection we met importers, buyers and others, but they didn’t initially respond well,” Fawzal said.
He further said that they accordingly went to the ICC governing body and managed to learn many things out there, vis-à-vis standards, dimensions and other aspects, being applied in Bat manufacture.
“Then we visited the craftsmen, who used to manufacture the bats for top International players like Steve Waugh, Sachin Tendulkar, Arjuna Ranatunga, Brian Lara, Ricky Pointing & others, and they helped us a lot, particularly in showing us how to make final product,” Fawzul added.
The company ultimately then managed to manufacture the bat of their own, and presented the sample to ICC, following which the bat has landed at several countries and has appeared in T20 worlds cups, last year and this year.
The young entrepreneur expressed delight and said that this is for the first time that Kashmiri Bat gets recognition at International level.
He said that they make all efforts to make quality bats for better results, while they use innovative techniques, which precisely helping them in understanding the compression stages.
