The wave of startups in Jammu and Kashmir has seen new heights in recent times. Earlier, the educated youth in the valley expected government jobs. Most people preferred government jobs because of the perks attached to it, like handsome salaries and pensions. They used to search for jobs in a hope that one day they are going to make it. In this flow, thousands of people have been applying for different posts but failed to secure them. All the years of their life were wasted. What we mean to say is that they didn’t think beyond it. The authorities have time and again reiterated that the government jobs are not the solution but that self-employment is the medicine for addressing growing joblessness. The biggest reason of unemployment was the craze for securing a Government post. It is good news that the trend has changed now. Youngsters are working hard to set up different types of businesses. Their creativity and hard work helped them make their own path. They have blown away the fear of failure, and their belief in themselves has finally paid them off. The best part is that they are investing confidently. Presently youngsters are focusing on skills and creativity and are setting up new restaurants, Mobile shops, etc. Many are doing entrepreneurship, running youtube channels, etc which is definitely going to boost the economy.
Their mindset has changed a lot. Many of them are running successful businesses. They now don’t regret taking loans from banks. If youngsters continue to take initiative by doing multiple businesses, then definitely unemployment rate will decline every year. As per the Centre for Monitoring the Indian Economy (CMIE), J&K’s unemployment rate saw a decline in October as the rate came down to 22.4 percent compared to the previous month’s 23.2 percent. This year has provided relief to the people of the valley. As compared to past years when people were struggling for their livelihood, a couple of years have proved fruitful. This initiative of starting a new business in our valley is slowly keeping the youth busy and warding off depression. The youngsters must not stick to the idea of Government jobs but they must try to focus on their skills and creativity so that they can run their families and live a peaceful life.
