Jammu & Kashmir Press Corps (JKPC) an Editors’ Body Wednesday held a meeting presided by its president, Hafiz Ayaz Gani.
In the meeting, party functionaries were elected to run the affairs of the JKPC and chalk out the future course of action.
Advocate Iqbal Ahmad Wani, Editor Srinagar News was elected as Vice President, and Raja Mohi-ud Din Editor Tameel Irshad was elected as its General Secretary.
Other functionaries who were elected included Farooq Wani, Brighter Kashmir (Secretary), Manzoor Anjum of Uqab (Secretary), Chasfeeda Shah of Kashmir Scan (Secretary), Javed Shah of Good Morning Kashmir (Treasurer), Iqbal Wani Weekly of Barwaqt (Organiser), Arshad Rasool of Daily Gadyal (Joint Secretary), Shafat Kira of Kashmir Vision (Joint Secretary).
After being elected as president of the press corps, Ayaz Gani in his inaugural address reiterated the main aim of forming the Press Corps was to work for the welfare of the Newspaper industry of Jammu Kashmir.
“JKPC will have to ensure that credible media houses come together and work 24*7 for the welfare and betterment of the entire media fraternity in Jammu and Kashmir and to uphold the true principles of vibrant media,” he said.
