There are different types of inequalities. Visible and invisible. Temporary and permanent. Small and big. People who are on the higher Socio-economic level rule the roost while the undisguised commoners have to slog it hard at all forums. They say that education is such a great leveller. Now the lock-down is changing all that.

Prolonged Dry spell

October 2, 2023

The students are now home bound. The 2G services on phone are just a distaste when it comes to attending a LIVE session through it. The frequent Internet shutdowns makes things worse.

Here is the main thing. The students whose parents are educated end up getting all lessons at home and as a consequence have a better chance of doing well at future competitive examinations. They have a power that all their concepts got clear at home. So by that yardstick the son a doctor has a higher chance of doing good in say Biology examinations and an engineer’s son will do better in say Physics and Mathematics. All these subjects require concept clearing and self study is a rarity and is usually very time consuming.

How would government address this inequality? Why would government not provide an equal opportunity to the children of carpenters, masons and other professions who want to be doctors, engineers, scientists and professors?

The least that the government can do is to throw open 4G services as soon as possible. We cannot let this inequality rule the roost? All have equal right to be doctors, engineers and scholars. we must respect that equality above all compulsions.
