The government in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir had decided to transfer 2025 Kanals and 03 Marlas of land for the development of Industrial Estates in Budgam, Anantnag, Shopian and Reasi districts. The Administrative Council (AC) which met in Srinagar took this decision recently. The primary motive behind this seems to be the tide over the massive unemployability in the valley. The government indeed wants to produce more and more employment generators and less of the job seekers.
The establishment of the Industrial Estates in these areas shall play an important role for the development of the areas, creating various employment opportunities which shall be in the interests of the public and the government. An amount of Rs.3167 Crores is expected to be invested in these industrial estates with the expected employment of 31,990 persons.
This is indeed a revolutionary step towards fighting the vast unemployment in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Especially for the areas around Reasi and Budgam this can help in generating a lot of employment.
It must be noted that the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Manoj Sinha has prioritized creating industrial estates in the territory of the valley and also in the Jammu region. Manoj Sinha has time and again insisted that we need more employment generators and a lesser number of youths seeking jobs.
In fact, the current administration can take a leaf out of the governments of Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan governments which built industrial parks to tide over the unemployment in their respective states. The result was that the techies working in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru returned to their home states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh and consequently a culture of start-ups was spawned driving both revenue and employment generation. These states can be emblematic of how IT parks can change the economy of a state, increase employment, prevent brain drain, and massively increase tax collection.
The Kashmir valley has a huge number of techie population working in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and the gulf who can be roped in to start these start-ups and drive employment generation. A handful of IT parks to begin with both in Jammu and Kashmir would do a world of good.
Once again congratulate the administration for transferring land to the industrial estates.
