India wins the Perth Test after scoring just 150 in the first innings. It was a remarkable comeback, to say the least. Yashasvi Jaiswal is climbing the stairs of greatness with a great pace and this century will be remembered for many years. The kind of patience Yashasvi Jaiswal showed at the crease was remarkable. The way he saw all the bloodbath in the first innings, he still believed he could score a double century on the same wicket – That shows his mental toughness, his attitude and of course his limitless resilience. To win a Test match with almost 300 runs in Australia on a bouncy wicket like perth is a remarkable feat. The fact India declared their innings to give their bowlers enough time to bundle out the Australian batsmen in the fourth innings. The icing on the cake is that Virat Kohli is back in the form and would like to do good in batting friendly conditions at Adelaide and Sydney.
India out-did Australia in all the departments – bowling, batting and fielding. When Bumrah was bowling, it would be fair to say, it looked like a competition between boxers of two different weight categories. Australia simply had no answer. The way Australian batting caved in front of Bumrah and Company was phenomenal. Never ever have the bowlers from the visiting team troubled the Aussie batsmen so comprehensively While Bumrah bowled a couple of spells that would be remembered for many decades, spare a thought for Mohammad Siraj – what a fast bowler India have found. We cannot lose sight of players like Nitish Rana and Washington Sundar – while their bowling was remarkable they have a great stance while batting and are totally composed irrespective of the match conditions. KL Rahul played a brilliant 80 odd runs at the most critical moment of the game – he should play all the four remaining Test matches. Of all batsmen he looked the most comfortable while facing Aussie batsmen.
While India ticked all the correct boxes it all went wrong with the Australian batting as well as bowling. When Bumrah started bowling it looked like cat has been set up in the hen house. To get eight wickets in Australia at the rate of under ten runs wicket is simply slam dunk moment. The Australian team needs to utilize the remaining nine days gap between the first and the second test to improve their batting – their technique against pace looked too shaky and dicey.
Now the most interesting part about predictions. India would be blessed to have both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill back in the squad. From what we have seen over the past four days, Australia have a lot of chasing to do. Looks like India might win the Border Gavaskar series quiet easily. As things stand Indian cricket team is lording over the Australian cricket team.
Well done Team India!
