The residents of Ogmuna, Devpora, and Dardpora of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of the 3 km link road and urged the authorities to carry out the repair works.
“The road is dotted with crater-sized potholes. Water gets accumulated into the holes thus making the road muddy and swampy. It becomes difficult to commute on this road,” said Waris Ahmad, a local resident.
“We can’t run our vehicles on the cracked road. The tyres get damaged and we have to pay a huge amount for repair work. We lose more money than we earn less,” he added.
The broken and worn-out road is giving a tough time to commuters, especially motorists and elders.
“The dilapidated road is putting the lives of people at greater risk. The authorities have been playing hide and seek with the commuters. The area is facing neglect for several years,” Zeeshan Ahmad, another local resident said.
Locals said that the condition of the road is deteriorating day by day. “The concerned authorities have failed to repair this link road in our area. This problem has reached at its extreme and is, consequently, creating panic among commuters,” they said.
“We brought the issue to the notice of authorities through grievances but no attention has been paid to this road yet,” they alleged.
Meanwhile, the local residents and the commuters request the administration and the concerned department to start the road work as soon as possible so that the people don’t fave inconvenience and have a safe journey in future.
