The illegal sand extraction at many places falling under the jurisdiction of Singhpora is at peak since past few days which is causing severe damages to the river banks at these areas and thus may lead to the disaster in near future.
The extraction is being done in Naaleh Sukhnag flowing through Hartrath Singhpora NH 1A at Khanpet, Rambel and Daslipora by many miscreants for their personal benefits, causing damages to the public property.
The locals said that the violations are rampant even as due to the illegal sand mining they are now facing the threat of their trees getting damaged while adding that the excessive mining has already damaged the embankments and has put the entire area at risk.

“The mining is going on in the area along Naaleh Sukhnag even during the night while as the authorities have failed to act against such elements so that the illegal mining is brought to an immediate halt and the violators are punished sternly,” said Shabir Ahmad, a resident.
The residents said that the illegal sand extraction is not confined to the Khanpeth or Daslipora area but the same is going on in various areas while the administration has so far failed in taking any concrete action aiming at halting the violations.
Many trees were seen to have fallen because of the extraction but the contractors never paid any attention towards that.
The residents and orchardists around the area are feeling threat to their survival as floods may be caused during rains and have requested the administration to look into the matter on immediate basis and overcome any grave concern which may be caused by this illegal activity.
While speaking on this issue, SDM Pattan Syed Faheem, assured to take an immediate action against the violators and appealed to the public in general and the orchardists not to panic.
