My name is Aamir, (name changed), I have been working in Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC), for over a decade now. During this period, there having many ups and downs or more negatives than the positives regarding the work culture. The primary problem lies with the organizational mismanagement. JKPCC is the only organization which has been generating livelihood for 58 years for its employees.

Organization with no budgetary support from govt, has been sustaining its employees from the profit it earns from projects. Sustainability depends directly on the percentage profit of 10-20 % from completed projects. Whenever any Govt dept intends to construct any building, it seeks a DPR from JKPCC which the JKPCC dept submits with corporation overhead charges of 10-20% to run its functioning. The overwhelming repute the corporation has earned in building mega structures like building and bridges is commendable. Infrastructure building of Jammu and Kashmir since 1960 through thick and thin has been its hallmark.

After 2014 floods, major rebuilding process was undertaken and completed before deadline. It is the only organization which was premier construction company imparting flawless construction more reliable than PWD. PWD was no comparison regarding construction quality.

The employees are on strike for the past fifteen days demanding their four months wages. Both Srinagar and Jammu offices are closed due to strike by employees.

It was mostly headed by Chief Engineers of PWD on deputation which would control the administration and execution of works to their best. They would interact with various departments and manage new works and funds to sustain the JKPCC. The asset it was started to fall from grace due to wrong reasons and the political interferences.

Ironically, once pristine JKPCC is dying a slow death and with it the future of 600 odd employees becoming bleak. The organisation presently headed by second rung bureaucrats who are not trained in construction field and hence not capable to run the day to day affairs.

I fervently appeal honourable LG Manoj Sinha to look into the fast deterioration of JKPCC and take immediate steps as he has turned around many decaying public departments into profit-making bodies.
