High alert in Kashmir after intel warns of attacks on Uri power plants: Report

A high alert has been sounded in Kashmir following intelligence inputs that a new militant outfit, Harkat 313, has been tasked to launch attacks on government infrastructure, including hydel power plants of Uri-I and Uri-II, India Today reported.

Security has been beefed up around the Uri-I and Uri-II hydro-power projects, which are close to the LoC.

According to India Today, militants are also likely to target the emergency landing strip in Anantnag. Another alert has been issued saying Hizbul Mujahideen is planning to target religious leaders to create a major law and order situation in the valley.

Inputs have also been received of militant outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and The Resistance Front (TRF) planning to attack sarpanches and non-local people in Kashmir.

The alerts come amid a spate of attacks on non-local workers in J&K. This month, 11 people have lost their lives in shootings targeting civilians.
