Security forces busted a hideout belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
An Over Ground Worker (OGW) was also arrested during the operation.

A police spokesperson said that following specific information about the presence of militants, a joint Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) was launched by police, 22 Rashtriya Rifle (RR) and 179 Battalion of CRPF at Ganai Mohalla Doabgah in Sopore. “During the search operation, a hideout of proscribed outfit HM was found in the basement of a single storied house belonging to one person (name withheld),” he said.
He said incriminating materials, including huge cache of arms and ammunition, were recovered from the busted hideout. “The hideout was destroyed on the spot in presence of Executive Magistrate. In this connection, a militant associate was also arrested,” he said.
“All the recovered materials have been taken into Police custody for the purpose of investigation. Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated in this regard,” he added.
