It has been three years since the construction work on Health Centre at Dangerpora-Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district was started but the facility remains incomplete.
Locals said that they have repeatedly raised the issue with the authorities but their pleas went unheard. “We are unable to fathom reasons behind this indifference. Presently, the people of more than a dozen villages have to travel seven-eight kilometers for basic health care. We are unable to fathom reasons behind this political indifference,” added the locals.
“The newly one storey health centre was approved in 2019, but due to some unknown reasons it still awaits for functionality,” said Mudasir Ahmad, a local resident.
Locals said that Government’s failure to made it functional within stipulated time has irked the locals, who feel administration was indifferent towards the problem they face in availing the health services. “The gaps in the implementation of the program are visible but none is ready to accept the failure,” the locals said.
“This area has huge population and we are being forced to go Pattan just only for first aid treatment, which is sheer injustice for us,” said Saqib Ahmad, another local resident.
Meanwhile, the locals urge LG administration and Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to look in this matter on early basis.
