The modern world is incomplete without electricity. In order to generate electricity and to run the modern civilization, scientists have been working over it since last two centuries. Out of all the vias scientists found that water is the ultimate source to produce cheap and efficient electricity. As far as our valley is concerned it has a large abundance of water resources that can be used to produce electricity for the benefit of the common man. Despite being rich in such sources, are still deprived in electric quota whereas in other states the electric supply is made possible round the clock without any interruption. Jammu and Kashmir still experience heavy load shedding and curtailment in electric power. As far as load shedding is concerned it usually takes 6-12 hours during summer whereas in winters when the water level ultimately recedes, the load shedding periods get lengthened to more than 12 hours. It is a sort of grievance for the common public.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs in April this year also approved the investment of Rs 4,526.12 crore for the 540 MW Kwar hydroelectric project located on Chenab River in Kishtwar district. With this, the LG administration has taken many steps to construct hydro projects at various places. With this the problem of power shortage can be overcome efficiently. There are so many avenues where hydel electricity can be generated. The benefits of generating small hydro projects are enormous whereas its side effects are absolutely zero. Roads and electricity are termed as the backbone of modern civilization. It has been noticed that the countries which have utilized their water resources completely to generate electricity are far ahead in progress and development as compared to others. In order to achieve this goal, our LG administration should follow a straight policy to utilize the abundant water to generate electricity so that the obstacle of depletion of power can be overcome.
