Official sources told GMK that a joint team of Police, army’s 55RR, CRPF and police launched cordon search operation in Astan Mohalla Kangan area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.
As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
Meanwhile authorities suspended internet services in area as a precautionary measure in wake of this encounter.
Two to three militants are believed to be trapped and operation was under way when this report was filled.
