Gunfight breaks out in Shopian

Srinagar: Gunfight breaks out between militants and goverment forces in Lakadpora village of  south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

Official sources said that, a joint team of Police, army’s 34RR, CRPF and police launched cordon search operation in Lakadpora Pudsoo in South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Saturday.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them, triggering an encounter.

Meanwhile authorities suspended internet services in area as a precautionary measure in wake of this encounter.

Two to three militants are believed to be trapped and operation was under way when this report was filled.
