Government Degree College in Sopore town in north Kashmir Baramulla district is without a Principal from the last two months thus affecting the academics badly.
After the superannuation of ex-Principal Farooq Ahmad Malik in July this year, the post of principal lies vacant and nobody has been appointed in the college till date.
As per official sources the college is suffering as the position of the Principal in the college is lying vacant for almost 55 days that has severely hit the academics and documental work.
“It has severely hit the academics and documental work of the college,” said a faculty member wishing anonymity.

Mubashir Ahmad, a student said that thousands of students from far flung areas of Sopore and other areas of the district are enrolled in the college but the college is headless for more than two months now and the authorities have failed to appoint a principal, plunging them to face a lot of hardships.
They further said that the higher ups were not serious about the problems faced by the students despite raising this issue a number of times.
Meanwhile, two months has gone but the college is still without a principal, students as well as staff members requested the higher authorities of education department to look into this matter as soon as possible.
