As harsh weather conditions continue across the Valley, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar has stepped up efforts to ensure that patient care remains smooth, timely and uninterrupted.
Principal and Dean GMC Srinagar, Prof. (Dr.) Iffat Hassan, along with Administrator of Associated Hospitals, Mohammad Ashraf Hakak, carried out an extensive visit to all major hospitals attached to GMC Srinagar to personally review healthcare preparedness on the ground.
The visit covered SMHS Hospital, Super Speciality Hospital Shiren Bagh, Lalla Ded (LD) Hospital, Chest Disease Hospital, Bone & Joint Hospital, Children Hospital Bemina, Psychiatry Hospital, SDH Hazratbal Block, Kashmir Nursing Home, Nursing Hospital GMC Srinagar, and UG/PG hostels, among other facilities.
During the inspections, Prof. Iffat Hassan interacted with hospital authorities and stressed that patient care must not suffer under any circumstances, especially during adverse weather. She directed Medical Superintendents to ensure the continuous availability of essential medicines, emergency and critical care services, and adequate manpower.
Administrator Mohammad Ashraf Hakak closely monitored administrative and logistical arrangements, assuring all hospitals of full support. He said that departments have been placed on high alert, with teams ready to respond to any emergency situation. His hands-on supervision helped ensure coordination across hospitals and smooth functioning of services.
Medical Superintendents informed the leadership that all essential facilities are in place, staff has been properly deployed, and emergency protocols are fully operational to maintain seamless healthcare delivery.
The inspection was also attended by Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Personnel Officer, along with other senior officers, reflecting GMC Srinagar’s collective and proactive approach to safeguarding public health during challenging weather conditions.
