A 17-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison in central Kashmir district of Ganderbal.
Official sources said the minor girl (name withheld) allegedly consumed some poisonous substance at her residence in Wangath in Ganderbal on Sunday. “Other family members immediately took her to a hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” they said.

“It was not immediately clear why she took this extreme step,” they said, adding police have registered a case and initiated investigation to ascertain the circumstances which forced her to end her life.
They said after completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to her relatives for last rites.
