As the traffic jams in Srinagar is no news these days, but this menace has been taking heavy toll for the residents of Main Bus Stand, Lal Bazar.
The main road from Molvi stop to main Chowk Lal Bazar has become a massive encroachment hub particularly by irresponsible, selfish violators. Only a decade ago, the road was wide and traffic was smooth even during the Urs days in Dargah Hazratbal, when all the traffic from whole valley is borne by this route. The road used to relax the maximum number of vehicles.
Presently, plying on the road with a vehicle is a mental agony and herculean taste if you are resident of the area.
However, present SHO Taseer Ahmad has been the only solace for the people offering himself 24*7 for restoring order but he singlehandedly cannot be the remedy.
Several delegations comprising respectable citizens met officials and sometimes back DIG Traffic assured them for installing road dividers for the busy patch of road which is a major bottleneck near Main Chowk, Lal Bazar. But once the said official was transferred the plan got unceremoniously shelved.
Wrong parking of vehicles on both sides, street vendors and the busy restaurant on the government land pursue a miserable plight of people during evenings. Law-enforced agencies seen to have given up to restore sanity and order.
Leaving roadside eatable sellers to block the traffic movement for their benefit.
Many residents told Good Morning Kashmir that apparently, the government has forgotten the vast area called Lal Bazar as it lags behind the rest of Srinagar in terms of development and other basic amenities of life.
