Failure – we all come in contact with it. And more often than not, we dread even entertaining the idea of failing. As a society, we see a failure to be detrimental to our success. Although success is not easy to achieve, let alone come by in our pursuit of success. We often falter and fumble. Let not our failures lead us to frustration. We should not flounder in the chosen path. Failures should goad us to work harder. We should use our failures as stepping-stones not as stumbling blocks, to success.
It is human to be disheartened by failures and setbacks in our Endeavour’s. Failures should make us take stock of our shortcomings. The handicaps and obstacles that we face in the realization of our cherished goals in life should not put us off the efforts we have already put in. In fact, our temporary setbacks should be pointers to failure. If we sit back and start pitying ourselves for the lost opportunities, the entire game plan for success will go hay wise.
What this teaches us, is that although failure can be painful and although we as people we have developed an aversion to it, it actually can allow us to unlock great potential. But in order to do so, we have to change our mindset on failure. Instead of seeing as something detrimental to success, we have to see it as a tool for success, a tool that helps us refine our path and allows us to learn what works and what does not. In such a way, we can see it as a normal part of the innovation of our own lives, not as something detrimental to life.
Keep reminding yourself that you are not meant for failure. Failure is for the weak-willed and chicken-hearted. It is not for you and those of your ILK, you have come thus far with your own efforts and diligence. So what holds you back from scaling greater heights in the future? Ask yourself this vital question; it will drive away all doubts in your mind about your capabilities and potentials. It will also spur you to put in a great effort in putting forth your best in your work. The time to work is now, procrastination, remember is the thief of time.
Do not, therefore, procrastinate at any cost. Get rid of your weakness and build on your strengths right now. Do not wait for a fairy godmother to come to your rescue; the days of miracles to happen are over. Be rooted to the ground; be realistic in your approach to solving the life’s riddles that bedevil your efforts. Only when you have unraveled the mystery, will the Rubik cube fit. Then onwards, nothing can stop your march to success. Put your efforts, rid your mind of all tensions and devotion and distractions; be single-minded in your pursuit; your devotion and dedication to your an owed goal should be complete and you are bound to emerge a winner.
Though! One might try assigning a human quality to failure, to relate to it better. Don’t see it as a force outside you inhibiting success, but as an integral part of your psyche leaving clues towards success.
Renowned author Elizabeth Gilbert writes in Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear: “You can measure your worth by your dedication to your path, not by your successes or failures.”
We are not entrusted with a road map marking our way through life, so we’re left to make it up as we go along. For this reason, be compassionate with yourself since you don’t have all the answers at your disposal.
Think of failure as being blindfolded in a maze and asked to find your way out. To find the exit, you must take the wrong turns to gain insight on the direct passage out.
Life functions in the same respect, in so far as the key to success is contained within your mistakes.
