The evening life has returned to Kashmir. Much like in 70s and 80s, when families would go out together to watch the evening shows in movie theatres, evening life is returning to Kashmir with a renewed vigour.

A walk on the cobbled pathway of Poloview market and one feels transported into some European city. Lighted chinars, cobbled pathways where only pedestrians are allowed, hipster cafes, fine dining restaurants, well-placed artifacts in shops, guitar-playing youth, musical shows, dance shows, and cultural events- one really gets a lot of solace that life is back in Kashmir.

Much like the civilians, the tourists like it. After Kashmir’s solitary multiplex was opened in Srinagar there is also talk doing rounds that a few more multiplexes would be coming up in the frontier districts of Kashmir. All this brings a lot of positivity and youth feel they belong to a proper civilization. The traffic is out of bounds to these places of cultural synthesis and these boulevards are only for walkers. We prevail upon the government to open more such places of cultural importance from Downtown, Srinagar also. After all, it is only Downtown which holds the cradle of our civilization.

The government must be congratulated for bringing evening life back to Kashmir. With the railway said to chug in Pir Panchal ranges next year to connect Kashmir with Jammu we can expect a steep surge in developmental activities in Kashmir. Slowly and steadily, life is returning to the streets of Srinagar. The government deserves congratulations for these developmental measures.
