A fierce encounter is underway between terrorists and security forces in the Shukroo Keller forest area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Tuesday, police said.

A police official said that the encounter broke out after the police and security forces launched a search operation in the area following specific inputs about the presence of terrorists.
He said the encounter broke out after the hiding terrorists opened fire on the security forces.
As per initial reports, he said, two to three terrorists are believed to be trapped in the area.
Another official said that as per initial reports three terrorists have been killed in the gunfight. However, there was no immediate official confirmation.
