Ahead of winter the Power Development Department (PDD) has resorted to unscheduled power cuts in Doda villages, locals alleged.
Locals said that the power crisis in areas like Dhadkai, Bhalessa and other parts of the area has become a natural phenomenon owing to the fact that the power department has failed to enhance its transmission capacities to meet the demand for electricity.
“We are facing immense hardships because of the power outage, electricity is blinking on and off,” said Ghulam Mohammad, a local resident, adding that locals are not able to perform their daily household activities due to unscheduled power cuts.
According to locals, the 24X7 electricity for the people of the area is still a dream.
“We are reeling under long power cuts daily, which affected students badly as they are unable to read and write in darkness. It becomes too hard for our students to prepare for competitive, academic exams in this situation,” they said.
Meanwhile, the locals requested Deputy Commissioner Doda and PDD authority to look into the matter and solve their genuine demands at the earliest so that can they heave a sigh of relief.
