Nalin Prabhat, Director General of Police (DGP), J&K, conducted a day-long visit to the Counter Terrorist Combat (CTC) facility at Sunjwan to assess the ongoing Guerrilla and Jungle Warfare training being imparted to 45 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs).
During his visit, the DGP closely reviewed the operational preparedness, tactical drills, and live simulation exercises designed to equip the officers with specialized skills for counter-insurgency operations in forested and rugged terrain. He interacted extensively with the trainees, emphasizing the importance of mastering unconventional warfare tactics, jungle survival techniques, and real-time decision-making under high-stress scenarios.
Addressing the officers, DGPstated, “The evolving nature of terrorism demands that our field commanders are not only physically agile but also mentally adaptable. This training module is critical in bridging the gap between conventional police work and specialized counter-terror operations.”
Senior officers from the CTC briefed the DGP on the curriculum, which includes ambush drills, navigation in dense foliage, cordon-and-search operations, and counter-ambush responses. The DGP also reviewed the logistical and infrastructural requirements to further enhance the training standards at the centre.
The 45 DSPs, are part of a specialized capacity-building initiative aimed at strengthening the force’s response in jungle and guerrilla warfare theatres. The DGP lauded the instructors and the training staff for their commitment and urged the officers to imbibe the lessons with utmost seriousness.
