The environment, which sustains all life on Earth, is under unprecedented threat due to human activities. Over the past few centuries, rapid industrialization, urbanization, and population growth have led to the degradation of natural ecosystems, resulting in severe consequences for both the planet and its inhabitants. The degradation of the environment is a multifaceted issue, encompassing pollution, deforestation, climate change, and the loss of biodiversity. If left unaddressed, this crisis will have dire implications for future generations.
Causes of Environmental Degradation
Pollution: One of the most visible signs of environmental degradation is pollution. Air, water, and soil pollution have reached alarming levels due to the release of harmful chemicals, plastics, and waste materials. Industrial emissions, vehicle exhaust, and the burning of fossil fuels have significantly contaminated the air, leading to respiratory diseases and global warming.
