The residents of Dardpora- Katianwali area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have complained of bad road condition in their area due to which commuters have to suffer on a daily basis.
The locals said that the 4 km road connecting Dardpora with Kandi area is in shambles and the authorities have not carried out repair work on this road stretch since last several years.
“Usually the landslides result in the suspension of vehicular movement on this road. Large potholes and bumpy condition of the road is making life of locals miserable,” Nazir Ahmad Chachi, a resident of Dardpora – Katianwali told Good Morning Kashmir.
“The transporters are refusing to operate passenger vehicles on this road, we are forced to opt another route, due to which it takes us hours to reach Baramulla,” Chachi said.

Chachi further said that despite their repeated representation to the district authorities over the deteriorating condition of the roads, the administration does not give heed to their grievances.
The residents of the area also said that they approached the authorities a number of times in the past seeking proper care of the road. “But till date the authorities have failed to start the work on the road,” said another villager.
The residents said that the condition of the road further deteriorates in winters and it could have been avoided by timely attention of the concerned authorities.
The residents accused the authorities for not maintaining the road and showing apathy over this issue.
They however, appealed the Deputy Commissioner Baramulla to intervene into the issue and make possible redressal of their problem.
