Srinagar: Panic gripped several villages of north Kashmir’s Kupwara on Friday after India and Pakistan armies exchanged heavy gunfire and artillery along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jabdi Karnah sector of frontier district.
Witnesses said that India and Pakistan troops traded gunfire along the LoC today triggering panic in Jabdi and Shararat Tolipost areas.
Many residents of nearby areas were seen moving towards safer locations while others have confined themselves to safer locations within their homes.

“The shelling is so intense that the people in far off villages were also hearing the sound of explosions,” locals said.
Official sources said that a heavy damage was inflicted on Pakistani army after they resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation in forward areas.
“Troops retaliated effectively and strongly, ” he added.
