Jammu and Kashmir on Monday recorded 991 new positive cases of novel Corona virus (COVID-19), 499 from Jammu division and 492 from Kashmir division, thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 139381.
Moreover, 418 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals including 43 from Jammu Division and 375 from Kashmir Division.
According to the official Media Bulletin on novel Corona virus (Covid-19), out of 139381 positive cases, 7908 are Active Positive, 129439 have recovered and 2034have died; 752 in Jammu division and 1282 in Kashmir division.
The Bulletin further said that out of 6536949 test results available, 6397568 samples have been tested as negative till 12thApril, 2021.
Till date 1617669 persons have been enlisted for observation which included 64789 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 7908 in isolation and 131003in home surveillance. Besides, 1411935 persons have completed their surveillance period.

Providing district-wise breakup, the Bulletin said that Srinagar recorded 303 cases, Baramulla 53, Budgam 31, Pulwama 30, Kupwara 22, Anantnag 25, Bandipora 03, Ganderbal 12, Kulgam 10 and Shopian 03, while as 181 from Jammu, 160 from Udhampur, 01 from Rajouri, 00 from Doda, 55 from Kathua, 04 from Samba, 00 from Kishtwar, 00 from Poonch, 01 from Ramban and 97 from Reasi
According to the bulletin, among the total 139381 positive cases in J&K, 15222 have been reported as travelers while 124159 as others.
The Bulletin said that the breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing.
The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 meter from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene.
As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory.
Advisory has further exhorted upon the people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing with soap and water.”
