Coronavirus: Srinagar elderly dies at SKIMS, J-K toll rises to 73

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Friday morning recorded fresh death due to the deadly virus (COVID-19) as a 79-year-old man from Nowshera area of City died here at SKIMS.

MS SKIMS, Dr Farooq Jan, said that a 79-year-old man from Nowshera area of Srinagar, who was admitted on June 8 with comorbidities including Hypertension, Type 2 Diabetes, Hypothyroidism and bilateral chest infiltrate died on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday at SKIMS Soura.

He Further added’ that the patient had history of travel to Saudi Arabia and contact with a COVID-19 positive patient as well.

He became the 18th Srinagar resident and 73rd in the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Pertinently, Jammu and Kashmir on recorded eight deaths in past 24hours due to this virus in a day, among two from Jammu Divison and Six from Kashmir Division.

With this fresh death the total death toll due to COVID-19 in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 73.
