Allegations of indiscipline and rude behaviour by some lower-rung staff members at the Government Urban Primary Health Centre, Lal Bazar, have surfaced, with several local residents claiming that poor and visiting patients are often made to feel unwelcome at the facility.
Good Morning Kashmir has received complaints from locals who visit the health centre, alleging that some staff members, particularly female employees, display an “indecent and arrogant attitude” towards patients.
Residents further alleged that on-duty staff sometimes facilitate medical consultations for their relatives and family members, which, they claimed, causes inconvenience to other patients waiting for treatment.
A local resident, Javed Ahmad, who was reportedly experiencing severe pain, alleged that he was asked to leave the facility by a young female staff member whose behaviour he described as rude and intimidating.
Locals said that complaints regarding the alleged conduct of certain staff members had been raised in the past as well, but they claimed that no effective corrective action followed, allegedly emboldening the behaviour.
Residents have urged the concerned health authorities to look into the complaints, ensure discipline among staff and establish a fair system under which patients are treated without discrimination or preferential treatment.
