Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the grenade attack on innocent civilians at Srinagar’s bustling Sunday market, which left several people injured.
In a statement, Abdullah expressed his deep concern over the incident, calling it “deeply disturbing” and emphasizing that there can be “no justification for targeting innocent shoppers.”
The Sunday market, a popular shopping destination for locals, was shaken by the attack, creating fear and chaos among the shoppers. Abdullah urged the security forces to take all necessary steps to prevent further attacks and ensure the safety of citizens.
“The security apparatus must do everything possible to end this spurt of attacks at the earliest so that people can go about their lives without any fear,” Abdullah said. He stressed the need for a comprehensive security strategy to curb such incidents and protect civilians from violence.
The attack comes amid a recent rise in violence and encounters in various parts of the Kashmir Valley, adding to the anxiety and insecurity felt by the residents. Security forces have launched investigations to identify the perpetrators, while the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
