Srinagar: Violating the government norms, doctors at Lal Ded Hospital here in Srinagar kept two Covid-19 positive patients in the hospital. Government guidelines clearly state that infected pregnant ladies in Srinagar can be admitted only at JVC SKIMS Bemina and Rainawari hospitals.
Sources were Quoted as saying by local news agency KNT that two pregnant ladies, one hailing from Pakharpora Budgam and another form Kupwara were admitted at Lal Ded Maternity Hospital. Sources added these infected ladies spent a night in the Lal Ded Hospital Ward and then shifted to JVC SKIMS Bemina.
Insiders said that what Lal Ded administration did was totally against the rules.
A medico at JVC SKIMS Bemina also said that Lal Ded administration can’t admit any pregnant lady infected from Covid-19. “It is against the rules and such an action can put the lives of others at risk,” he said.
When contacted, Medical Superintendent Lal Ded Hospital Dr Shabir Sidiqui admitted that there were two Covid-19 infected ladies admitted in the hospital who were later shifted to JVC SKIMS Bemina. “A woman delivered a child and I don’t know anything about the other woman but both have been shifted,” he said.
When asked how he admitted Covid-19 infected ladies into the hospital, he said they have created a separate isolation ward for Covid-19 patients and this ward is over 500 feet away from the hospital.
The medico posted at JVC SKIMS Bemina said that Lal Ded Hospital can’t operate any infected lady and the doctors there have to refer the patients either to Rainawari Hospital or to JVC Bemina.
Pertinently, over two dozen people including some doctors were quarantined after doctors at Florence and Al-Shifa hospitals here in Kashmir capital Srinagar operated Covid-19 infected pregnant ladies. Various patients later on were shifted to other hospitals.
