Nazir Ahmad Bara, a local resident from Bugna told Good Morning Kashmir that the school building was gutted in a fire mishap in year 2019 and since than no work was started to construct a new building.
“After the fire mishap, the school building was declared unsafe for students since then we have been moving from pillar to post pleading before authorities for dismantling this building, and construction of new building,” Bara said.
Locals said that due to the lackadaisical approach of higher authorities the smooth functioning of the school in Bijumer, where the school was shifted after the fire incident, had been suffering badly since 2019.
“Students are not able to get quality education and in extreme cold and hot weather students suffer a lot,” said another resident of the village, adding that the students have to travel at least two kilometers to reach the school now.
“The all that we demand is that a new building should be constructed for the students, who at present have to travel at least two kilometers to reach in a pry school viz PS Bijumer,” the villagers said.
The locals and students appealed the Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha to personally look into the matter and ask the concerned department to start the construction work of Govt Middle School Bugna and complete the project without any further delay.
