The dilapidated condition of road from Bohri Kadal to Nowhatta here in Srinagar district is giving a tough time to the commuters.
Locals complained the road from Bohri Kadal to Nowhatta is in shambles. “The road in our area is dotted with potholes which speaks volumes about the tall claims of the government of improving road connectivity,” the locals said.
The resident of the area told Good Morning Kashmir that it has been years since the road was blacktopped. A brief shower and the dozens of potholes turn into pools of water.
Adil Reham, a local resident of the area said we avoid sending kids to schools in wet conditions because they are the worst sufferers.
“This road is full of potholes and traveling has become very difficult. These roads are very dangerous and many cause fatal accidents. We have requested the authorities time and again and also submitted our pleas to authorities but our pleas fell on deaf ears,” Adil said.
Aghast over the callous approach of authorities, another local resident, Moumin Bashir said that the district administration has failed to macadamize the roads and authorities’ “failure” leads them to suffer on daily basis.
“We request the concerned department to look into the matter and start macadamization of the road as soon as possible,” he added.
Another resident said that driving two-wheelers or four-wheelers on the existing road was fraught with dangers for both the motorist and pedestrians.
The residents appealed the administration to come to their rescue by addressing their problem and providing them better road connectivity in the area at the earliest.
According to them, they have been requesting the concerned authorities for so long but all in vain. Appealing the district administration and Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, residents requested the Lt Governor to look into the “serious” issue.
