Big fat weddings

Marriage season has almost begun in the valley. The cost of a wedding function is too expensive for poor families. Though Wazwan is delicious and embellishments pleasure the guests but the poor father has to take the burden and manage heavy expenses. Guests enjoy the feast and leave after the wedding is over. The daughter’s wedding is too costly compared to son. The bride has to arrange heavy dresses to gold ornaments within a short period of time. She has to pay a huge dowry including electric appliances, cash, money, cars, etc to the bridegroom’s family. The father has no way out other than organizing the wedding and for that has to take loans for the function. He has a lot of pressure on his head but is bound to do so because the society we are living in is cruel. People in our valley make fun of families when the wedding is not fancy and expensive. Poor families are compelled to arrange luxuries to avoid humiliation and negligence. If a father fails to marry his daughter then the whole family receives taunts within a social circle. It is unfortunate that no one comes forward to support the bride financially and unburden his responsibilities. Rich families spend a lot of money on weddings without knowing how it would impact the poor ones. They do not realize that the children in poor families have to pay a heavy price for this. It competitive world which believes in fancy and expensive material possessions. We have made it tough for fathers to think about the wedding of their children. Elite classes must set a great example by keeping their weddings simple. They need to come out of that showoff phase and devote themselves to simplicity. They must go for simple weddings so that the orphans and poor people don’t feel a burden. Instead of wasting money, they must contribute half of the amount to poor families so that their children don’t remain unmarried. We brag about being educated but when it comes to choosing the right path, we often step backward. Some Rich families provoke others to follow the hypocritic path. They must mend their ways and change their thinking towards weddings. People must go for simple weddings. Weddings are blessings so don’t make them complicated.
