Students of Government Primary School Janwanipora, Singhpora Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Saturday registered their protest in incessant rains against authorities of School Education Department after they were forcibly thrown out from a rented accommodation.
Reports said that the students who stepped inside the school on Saturday morning found the rented accommodation locked, after which they approached the concerned house owner who asked the school management to clear pending rent first.
It said that school management has failed to pay rent of last three years to the concerned house owner, which prompted the closure of accommodation.
The school was operating in the same vicinity from some other accommodation in past, but due to unpaid rent the then owner locked the building and asked the school management to vacate the shelter.
Pertinently Government Primary School Janwanipora, Singhpora Pattan has come into being in 2003 but is operating from rented accommodations since.
The school has total 75 students with 3 teachers but authorities have miserably failed to construct a permanent building for the students.
Parents who were along with their wards were seen protesting against authorities of School Education Department for failing to provide adequate shelter to the institution so that their children will pursue education without any hindrance.
“The students of entire country are heading towards digital education, but unfortunately our students are yet to get basic educational infrastructure. Since this school has been established, it is operating from rented accommodations. The government should work beyond paper statements,” a parent who was part of the pprotest said.
Another parent said that it is shame for the entire School Education Department who failed to address basic necessity of the students.
“Government should introspect. Pen and laptops are distant, let they construct a school building first where our kids will get education. It is our basic and fundamental right,” she said.
When contacted Director Education Kashmir, Tasaduq Hussain, from different mobile numbers his phone came busy incessantly like in past. (KNS)
