Scores of residents from Baderkoot, Zandpal, and adjacent villages of Tangmarg area in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district Tuesday expressed resentment against Roads and Buildings department for failing to macadamize 5-kilometer Baderkoot- Rangmarg road from the last 10 years.
Despite being a vital road, the inhabitants said the road is in dilapidated condition and is craving for attention over the past decade.
Locals told Good Morning Kashmir that this road links Baderkoot, Gogaldara, and Ringawari with famous tourist hotspots Drang and Rangmarg.
According to locals in 2020 the road was macadamized only up to 4 kilometers hereinafter from Rangmarg to Baderkoot road is in shambles.
“Many tourists are coming to Gogaldara, Ringawari, later on, they are taking Baderkoot-Rangmarg roadway to reach Drang and Tangmarg. However, this road is in shambles,” said Nazir Ahmad, a local resident.
“Only 3-kilometer of this road was macadamized a few years ago from Rangmarg to Baderkote, while the rest of the patch lies in dilapidated condition for the past ten years as the government has neglected the vital road,” he said.
Due to the pathetic condition of this road commuters are facing inconvenience during travel, he said.
The residents complained several times to R&B to macadamize the road, but nothing has been done so far.
“To reach Drang from Baderkoot link road hardly take 10 minutes, but due to its bad condition it takes more than that to reach the destination,” said Shabir Ahamad, a local resident.
“This was the road built decades ago, since then it is a victim of official neglect, he said.
The residents appealed to Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha led administration and Chief Engineer R&B to look into the issue, so that problem will be resolved as soon as possible.
