In a bid to enforce traffic discipline and ensure road safety, the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Pulwama, Mahnaz Chishti, led a rigorous enforcement drive across the district. The crackdown targeted traffic violators, resulting in stringent actions, including hefty fines, vehicle blacklisting, and seizures.
During the drive, a total of 38 challans were issued to offenders for various violations, including reckless driving, and improper documentation. The enforcement team also blacklisted 94 vehicles found flouting traffic norms, restricting them from operating until compliance is ensured. Additionally, one vehicle was seized for severe violations, underscoring the administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards traffic offenses.
The drive generated a revenue of 21000 through fines, which will be utilized for road safety initiatives. ARTO Mahnaz Chishti emphasized that such enforcement campaigns aim to curb accidents and promote responsible driving. “Strict action against violators is necessary to ensure public safety. We will continue conducting surprise checks to deter reckless driving and enforce traffic laws,” she stated.
LARTO urged citizens to adhere to traffic regulations, including wearing helmets, carrying valid documents, and avoiding overloading. The ARTO office has also announced plans for regular inspections to maintain traffic discipline.
The ARTO Pulwama has warned that similar enforcement actions will continue, urging motorists to follow rules to avoid penalties. The administration has also advised the public to report traffic violations for prompt action.
