Residents of Dolipora, Kawacheck, Dardapora, and its surrounding areas in Kreeri belt of Baramulla district are facing immense hardships due to unscheduled power cuts. They alleged that they had been getting an erratic and low-voltage electricity supply in their area for the past two months.
“The electricity is playing hide and seek from the past two months. Daily and frequent power cuts resulting unbearable hardships to us. It is highly unfortunate that in this intense cold conditions, the PDD department doesn’t ensure regular power supply,” Zubair Ahmad a local resident of Dolipora, Kreeri said.
Locals said that the unscheduled power cuts and low voltage had made the lives of villagers miserable. “Electrical gadgets in our homes have become showpieces. We have made several appeals to the authorities in this regard but we get only hollow assurances,” they said.
Locals said that they don’t get satisfactory answers when they approach the concerned authorities to know cause of power curtailment as well as low voltage.
“For what we are paying electricity bills when we are not receiving timely services. Electricity is much more needed in the winter season than in summer,” they said.
Meanwhile, the residents of the area have urged authorities to intervene in the matter as soon as possible.
